Mrs. Alyssa Nabors is excited to be joining Antlers Public Schools as a first-grade teacher. She has a bachelor’s degree and has been teaching first grade for the past two years. She began her teaching career last year and is excited for this next chapter at Antlers Elementary. She has always had a passion for working with children and creating a classroom where students feel loved, supported, and excited to learn. She earned her associate degree from Paris Junior College and went on to pursue her bachelor’s degree at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. She resides in Antlers, Oklahoma, with her husband, Jake Nabors, and their daughter, Enslee Nabors.
Mrs. Nabors was interested in applying to Antlers Public Schools because Antlers is her husband’s hometown and where they have truly established their little family. The community at Antlers Public Schools is so strong and supportive, and she wanted to be a part of that. She is excited to not only teach in the community where her family has put down roots, but also to become a part of the Antlers Bearcat family.
Outside of school, Mrs. Nabors enjoys spending time with her family, especially her husband, Jake, and their daughter, Enslee. She also enjoys reading, shopping, and fishing. She loves making memories with her family and enjoying the little things in life.
Mrs. Nabors chose first grade because it is such an important and exciting year for students. First grade is when students make so many important academic and personal milestones, especially in reading, writing, and building their confidence as learners. She loves being able to watch students grow throughout the year and seeing that moment when something finally clicks for them. She wanted to teach a grade where she could help build a strong foundation that students will carry with them throughout their education.
Mrs. Nabors holds an Elementary Education teaching certificate through the State of Oklahoma and has two years of experience teaching first grade. She is passionate about continuing to grow as an educator and finding new ways to support her students and help them succeed.
