Middle School News Letter

Antlers Middle School has had an exciting and busy few weeks filled with athletic events, academic opportunities, student activities, and community involvement.

Our Junior High football season is going strong, with tremendous growth shown by the team throughout the season. We are proud of the hard work and dedication of our players and coaches. Sixth-grade basketball also tips off its season tonight at Coalgate, and we look forward to seeing another group of Bearcats take the court and begin their season.

Academically, we would like to thank all the parents and guardians who attended Parent-Teacher Conferences. Family involvement plays an important role in student success, and we appreciate the continued support and partnership of our families. Teachers also now have access to Newsela, a supplemental instructional resource that provides meaningful, standards-aligned content to enhance classroom learning. Yearbook pictures were taken a few weeks ago, and picture retakes are scheduled for Wednesday, October 14.

Our students continue to shine through their involvement in school programs and activities. Several Middle School students were selected for the Southeast All-District Choir, and we are proud of their accomplishments and Mrs. Clark's dedication to our music program. A few weeks ago, students, teachers, and coaches also participated in an online safety and bullying prevention assembly. The informative presentation shared important information about staying safe online and preventing bullying, and we appreciate the presenters for taking the time to visit with our school.

This week is our annual Pink Week, featuring student dress-up days and fundraising activities to support a great cause. We look forward to a fun week filled with school spirit and giving back. Red Ribbon Week is also approaching and will take place October 26–30, with activities encouraging students to make healthy, positive choices.

Homecoming Week was a great success! Students enjoyed participating in dress-up days and activities throughout the week. We extend a special thank-you to our Student Council members and their sponsor, Mrs. Mattingly, for the time and effort they put into making the week memorable for everyone. On October 9, students were also offered free flu vaccinations, and we thank the Pushmataha County Health Department for providing this valuable service to help keep our students healthy.

Student and staff safety remains a priority at Antlers Middle School. Additional safety drills have been completed this month as we continue preparing our school community to respond appropriately in emergency situations.

As we look ahead, Fall Break is scheduled for Friday, October 16. We hope all our students, staff, and families enjoy a relaxing and well-deserved long weekend!
